About Belgium - Practical Information

The Kingdom of Belgium, located between France, Luxembourg, Germany and the Netherlands, counts, for a surface of 30.000 km2, a population of 10 million inhabitants. Its capital, Brussels, is also known as the capital of Europe, as it hosts numerous institutions of the European Union.

Belgium is a complex Federal State, gathering, for economic matters, three Regions (the Walloon Region, the Brussels Region, the Flemish Region), and, for cultural matters, such as education, three Communities (the French Community, the Flemish Community, the German Community).

The Belgian climate is characterised by abundant precipitation that is rather equally spread over the year. It is rather moderate (average temperature in January : 1°C, in July : 16°C).
